In my ARTS 222: Introduction to Graphic Design class at Liberty University Online, one of my projects was to make an invitation in Adobe Illustrator. I choose to make a flower birthday invitation for little girls. The title for the invitation is “Happy Birthday Ruth.” It utilizes a complementary color palette of yellow and violet with a tint of a light violet. The flowers on the invitation help to communicate an elegant, playful theme, which would appeal to the target viewers of little girls and their mothers.
My professor gave me helpful feedback that my font was not very readable at first, so I changed it to a more readable but still elegant and playful font for little girls. This lesson and other lessons that I have learned have helped me realize the value of readable, legible typography.
